Renewable Energy

Known as bioenergy, renewable energy is made available from materials derived from biological sources. These materials, or biomass, are any organic matter of recently living plant or animal origin, such wood, wood waste, straw, manure, sugarcane and other agricultural and forestry products. The most familiar form of biomass resource is wood, which people have used to cook and keep warm for thousands of years.

Bioenergy is renewable as the energy contained in biomass is energy from the sun, captured through natural processes of photosynthesis. So long as the quantity of biomass used is equal to or less than the amount that can be regrown, it is potentially renewable indefinitely.
